Maggie Laycock is an artist and aspiring educator who is currently finishing her BFA at College for Creative Studies in Detroit, MI. She is also alumna of the Penny W. Stamps School for Design at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, as well as the School for the Art Institute of Chicago. While Maggie’s personal practice stems from 2D mediums like drawing and painting, she strongly believes in experimentation and variety of mediums and materials, and actively works to include elements of print, bookmaking, wood and other sculptural or interactive elements into her practice. The process, including the psychological kinesthetic experience involved in making, is just as important as the aesthetic of the finished product, and as a future educator, she hopes to impart this lesson to all her students.
